Back on the Train...briefly

1. Tweet of the day

"Worker sues ex-boss over "sadomasochistic nightmare" huff.to/Yg3cDU"

I thought for sure it would be someone from channel 7 when I clicked on that link..

2. Seinfeld Today of the Day

Continues to be the best twitter feed on this machine...

Jerry's girlfriend (Keri Russell) fills his DVR with Bravo shows. "It was a coup. A coup d'eVR." George gets the dreaded 4-hour erection.

3. Quote of the Day

Michael J Fox was on the Katie Couric show this afternoon and was talking about his Parkinson's treatment. He says he has to sort of guess and predict how much of the drug he needs to take in advance, based on the dopamine levels his body makes on its own. He says obviously there's no way to be sure, but you just have to kind of time it out and guess... or to use his exact words:

"It's kind of like a Grateful Dead concert. You just have to time the drugs right."

Who knew Alex P Keaton was a head! If its possible, I like him even more now. And while we're here:

4. Pic of the Day

From our "one small step for instagram" correspondent.. via Astronomy Pic of the Day.. which if you have never been to, is one of the coolest sites on the web. I actually have the app on my phone too.

5. 1st World Problem of the Day

How to not have a heart attack while eating this.

6. List of the Day

AV club's voter-based TV shows of the year.. just in time for the January lull of no new tv... few shows on there I've been interesting in checking out..

Cant argue with their top 5..but I am a little surprised to see Walking Dead and Boardwalk in the high teens... it really was the year of Breaking Bad though... don't know how they can top it in 2013, but very excited to see them try..

6A. Runner up list of the day

What Did We Get Stuck In Our Rectums This Year?

7. C's Quotes of the Day

Well from yesterday, but as I was on the road, I missed the game.. And it's a two-way tie between Doc: “Jared was wonderful,” said coach Doc Rivers. “He’s such a smart player. When you watch him, you don’t see rookie. You just see a big fat guy playing basketball.”

and KG:“I don’t know where in America you can jack somebody’s pants off. I don’t know what the hell was going on.”

Obviously, KG has never been to P-Town..

8. Obit of the Day

RIP Charles Durning. You may not know his name, but you definitely know who he is. One of my favorite roles, an all-time underrated classic:

9.Montage of the Day

Wacky videos of the year!

I know it's awful..but that chick in the wheelchair getting on the escalator just brings me to tears every time...

Monica Lewinsky: The Inside Story of an Epic Newsweek Scoop

Backstage at the ultimate Washington drama.

It isn’t often in this business that you’re sitting at your desk and you get a phone call from a source that causes you to nearly fall off your chair. But that’s exactly what happened in my office at Newsweek’s Washington bureau early on the afternoon of Jan. 13, 1998. “There’s a little event going on at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City right now you might want to know about,” my (very plugged-in) tipster told me. Linda Tripp was having lunch with her good friend Monica Lewinsky—and Ken Starr had the whole thing wired. Starr?! Yes, my source said: I know it sounds crazy, but Starr (the independent counsel appointed to look into Bill Clinton’s Whitewater business dealings) was now investigating the president’s relationship with Lewinsky. The lunch was a sting aimed at getting the then-23-year-old former White House intern to flip and cooperate.

I. did. not. have. sex. with. that. woman.... Miss Lewinsky.

And while we're here;

11. Best News of the Day

Looks like Chris Robinson has some new competition for "King Wook" and it will actually be from within his own band!

Luther Out / Jackie In: Jackie Greene Joins Black Crowes

Written by on 12.26.2012 | Black Crowes, Jackie Greene, News
Yesterday, The Black Crowes’ website was updated to reflect a series of spring tour dates that marks the band’s return to the road. These dates were the only information shared at the time, but today the band has put out a press release announcing a new live album and a change to the lineup.

Great news. Let's keep this guy ON Crowes tour, and OFF Dead tour! Together we can make it happen!

12. Phish Sighting of the Day

Damn! Cant believe I missed this episode of Wheel.. I watch every night here in my cubicle.. clearly, we will see this chick at MSG..

Phish references continue to pop up in the mainstream media. In 2012 alone, the Vermont Quartet were referenced on The Office, Trey Anastasio was a clue on Jeopardy and, of course, the band forged a close relationship with Justin Bieber.
On Christmas Eve, Phish were also name-checked on Wheel of Fortune. Show host Pat Sajak interviewed contestant Berkeley Ramsbottom Cox about her love of Phish at the start of the show. During her brief interview segment, Cox referenced her dogs Minnie, Harpua and Fluffhead, mentioned that she has seen 51 Phish shows and said that she hoped to spend her winnings attending more shows. Sajak’s response was that it “was good to have a, um, goal.” Though Cox did not win, she did walk away with almost $7,000.
