From our life imitating the Wire correspondent..
Amsterdam to create 'scum villages'
Amsterdam is to create "Scum villages" where nuisance neighbours and anti-social tenants will be exiled from the city and rehoused in caravans or containers with "minimal services" under constant police supervision.
I honestly think this is a great idea. It's kinda like what Newton did with Needham... and what do you know? We're the safest city in the country alla sudden.
2. Here come the ambassadors
They should change the slogan though. I recommend:
"Bathtub Gin.... It's not just a phish song anymore!"
Celebrate repeal with bathtub gin in Back Bay, Kenmore Square
The gang from LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) celebrates the repeal of Prohibition with a pair of bathtub gin parties at the Gibson House Museum tonight and The Hawthorne in Kenmore Square Wednesday night.
The 21st Amendment, ending Prohibition, was passed on Dec. 5, 1933. Here are the details on both events from the LUPEC gang.
3. Coming Soon
Sneak peaks:
Superman goes to prison
Cpt. Kirk goes to Gotham
And the AV club revisits your favorite trailers.. (nice read!)
4. That is one Juicy Burger
Sadly, I have to admit.. it took me multiple repititions before I figured out what the fuss was about. A lil slow today..
5. You've seen Dogs playing poker...
...but have you seen.. Dogs. Driving. Cars? (shady, but still probably better than women drivers)
6. Why Don't We Have Newscasts Like That?
Obviously, they forgot to Stay Classy.
7. Dirty Hoard
I can't watch this show, because it's too disgusting, but apprarently, last night was one for the ages because two different sites wrote about it.
Grantland:
Freak Show & Tell: No, Seriously, the Worst House in Hoarders History
By Tara Ariano onGawker:
The Most Disgusting Episode of Hoarders, or Any Show Ever, Probably, Aired Last Night
(If the headline isn't enough of a warning, here's another: the video above is disgusting and disturbing. Proceed with caution and without food in your mouth.)
8. Late Show LZ
In case you missed it.. The surviving members of Led Zeppelin were on Letterman last night.. not to jam, but to chat. It was pretty good. Most surprising things to me
1) John Paul Jones stole the show with his dry British Wit. He even had Dave on his toes a few times.
2) Plant is just as old and crazy as you would hope he would be... somehow coherent, but still a little bit "out of sorts" Makes for pretty good TV. Note how he keeps looking over at the Band like he has an inside joke with Schafer.. maybe they do... if you know what I'm sayin'
(Side note: this all stemmed from both LZ and Dave getting awards at the Kennedy Ctr over the weekend.. here's Obama's tribute to LZ...
And while we're here.. here's the Tribute to the Greatest Song in the World.
9. And Speaking of The D
They're coming back around as just the orig. acoustic duo.. as God intended.. And as much as I loved the electric show this summer.. I havent been this excited for a tour since Phish returned from "the break-up". Yes. It's that serious. I think this picture will explain why..
Tenacious D Announce Old School Acoustic-Style Tour

10. High-Five
As mentioned earlier this week.. some dudes just can't seem to get that high-five thing down.. Thankfully, our good friends at Funny or Die have taken the time to compile a list of some of the best gifs!
My favorite:
These Hockey Coaches
Don't you hate that! When you go for the fist bump, and someone else goes for the handshake, or vice versa! It's the most awkward thing in the world.. and somehow, it only happens to white folks. So weird!
11. And in other news...
Snoops' back with a new edition of GGN.. and I think we should all stop what we're doing.. and give this the attention it deserves. By far the best source of news on the planet.. even above TDS. Enjoy!
