The backstory of how this came to be is pretty interesting too.. as Byrne points out, bc the Biz lifted almost all of the music for that tune, he probably made next to nothing on it.. even though it's one of the most popular "rap" songs of all time.
Deen previously appeared on NBC News' "Today" show where
she dissolved into tears, admitting that she used a racial slur in the
past.
Okay, I know what you're thinking.. that tiny sliver of a quote was probably taken out of context... let's see the FULL Text..
“It’s amazing that some people are given passes and some are crucified,” she said.
“I feel like ‘embattled’ and ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name,”
she said. “It’s like that black football player who recently came out.
He said ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to
be known as a gay football player.’”
“I know exactly what he’s saying,” she added.
So, not only did she compare herself to a homosexual minority, she kinda also compared herself to Jesus, right? Allow me to speak for all Jews when I say, don't compare yourself to one of us.

6. Swim with the Cactus
Mike Gordon
Big week for old friend Mike Gordon, with his new solo album "Overstep" coming out. And he was in full celebratory mode..
Steve Lillywhite, who did a lot of Phish albums, said "Mike, I'm going
to leave you with advice. You don't know how good your voice can be, you
don't know how bad your voice can be. Just write songs that are good
for your voice."
Ok, phish haters, you can resume reading.. and since you probably are the type of people who like nascar (because my world is black and white) this one's for you.
8. And For the Ladies
I know sometimes this space can get "sports heavy" and not to generalize too much, but sure, sometimes the women don't care for all that sports talk.. well, here's some headlines I found just for you..
The clitoris is a woman's most sensitive body zone. And as it turns
out, its size matters — a new study has found that in women who have
orgasm problems, the clitoris is smaller, and located farther from the
vagina.
Researchers used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
to scan the pelvic area of 30 women who were on average 32 years old.
Ten of these women had reported rarely or never achieving orgasms
despite trying. The rest of the participants reported normal orgasmic experience during sex.
Comparing
the two groups of women, the researchers found that the direct distance
between the clitoris and the vagina (as measured by a line running
straight through the body) was 5 to 6 millimeters longer on average in
the group of women with orgasm problems. These women also had a smaller
clitoris on average. [Awkward Anatomy: 10 Odd Facts About the Female Body]
How does one get a job as a "researcher" exactly.. no seriously.. all I have to say about this is..
Let's hop in the JamBase time machine and set the dials for 2002 to view a stirring
performance by Neil Young with Poncho and The MGs. Ol' Neil was headlining the Rock
am Ring Festival in Nürburgring, Germany with a band that mixed Crazy Horse guitarist
Frank "Poncho" Sampedro with Booker T. and The MGs and his whole set was broadcast on
famed German live music show Rockpalast.
The legendary rocker was in fine form on this night as he mixed his greatest songs such as
"The Loner," "Cinnamon Girl," "Cortez The Killer" and "Down By The River" with what was
then more recent material such as "Sleeps With Angels" and "Let's Roll." The quality of
the footage is stunning, but you'll stay for the performance.
11. The Gift of Beard
As someone who's been sporting a beard since high school, I have to just sit and laugh when I see shit like this. As always, I was way ahead of the trend..
It’s shear madness! Brooklyn’s hipster beard craze has grown so
popular that men in New York are rushing to doctors for “facial hair
transplants” — surgery that helps make beards look thicker and less
patchy, sources said.
Stubble-challenged guys are forking over up to $8,500 for the
beard-boosting procedure, which has spiked in popularity in recent
months, plastic surgeons told The Post.
“Brooklyn is probably the nucleus of the trend, it’s the hipster
‘look’ guys want. If you have a spotty beard, and you let it grow out,
it looks sloppy, ” said Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, a Midtown-based plastic
surgeon.
“[Clients] want full beards because it’s a masculine look. Beards are an important male identifier,” he added.
And last but not least.. special shout out to Harold Ramis.. who wrote about half of my dialogue. Literally.
Lots of great tributes out there this week.. here's a few.. but first and foremost.. check out this amazing oral history of Ghostbusters.. fascinating read.. 1st off, did you know the original plan was Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, and John Belushi? But then Belushi died and they regrouped? Also sad to say, they appear to still be moving forward with Ghostbusters 3, even though Ramis has passed.. if you were afraid it was going to be lame before.. this does nothing to squash those fears..
“Michelle and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Harold Ramis,
one of America’s greatest satirists, and like so many other comedic
geniuses, a proud product of Chicago’s Second City. When we watched his
movies—from Animal House and Caddyshack to Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day—we
didn’t just laugh until it hurt. We questioned authority. We identified
with the outsider. We rooted for the underdog. And through it all, we
never lost our faith in happy endings. Our thoughts and prayers are with
Harold’s wife, Erica, his children and grandchildren, and all those who
loved him, who quote his work with abandon, and who hope that he
received total consciousness.”
